SOLOGUB: THE LITTLE DEMON OF A MASTER OF THE RUSSIAN PROVINCE BETWEEN THE LATE NINETEENTH AND EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY

The article focuses on Sologub's most famous work, The Little Demon, placing it in the socio-cultural context of Russia between the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. Par-ticular attention was paid to the figure of the protagonist, Master Peredònov, who to some extent embodies the expectations and frustrations of the entire class of Russian teachers of the time.
