Middle East Reshuffle

Security and crisis management in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, as well as the economy, have all been strongly affected by the events in Ukraine. Rivalries on regional balances and on energy require complex negotiated solutions. Russia, amid its fragilities, is participating in diplomatic efforts and acting through other means according to interests largely related to its role as major oil and gas producer and exporter.
