Introduction This paper is focused on the human caring theme, an important aspect in nursing practice; it helps to broaden perspectives, allowing nurses to realize the art of caring. The objective of this study is to describe the post-graduate nursing students’ perceptions about the human caring. Using the autobiographical narrative method, the purpose is to highlight which motivations lead to choose the nursing profession and investigate how nurses try to maintain and develop human caring.Methods The study has been conducted through the method of autobiographical narrative. An ad hoc questionnaire, based on Jean Watson questions, has been administered to 19 post-graduate nursing students to investigate the values and human dynamics that lead to the human caring.Results Fifteen complete questionnaires were collected.Conclusion Data analysis revealed that at the basis of a personal choice of becoming a nurse there is a strong feeling toward others. The patient is seen as the person that needs care, but also as the one through which nurse can enhance and increase the passion for nursing profession.
