Early biomarkers of pleural malignant mesothelioma in workers past exposed to asbestos: Proposal of a survey

At present biological monitoring of the asbestos formerly exposed workers does not have early biomarkers to assure effective sanitary surveillance for pleural malignant mesothelioma. The research project coordinated by Campania Mesothelioma Registry plans to identify and validate two early biomarkers at gene level (gene expression profiling) and at serum level (SMRP = serum mesothelin-related protein).
