Confini degli Stati, Confini nello Stato

The process of Italian unification results in the dissolution of ancient states. This occurs in the Napoleonic period and then definitively with the creation of the Kingdom of Italy. The essay examines forms and motivations of the modification of the boundaries of the ancient states in the definition of the circumscription of first departments and then provinces, until the fascist reorganization. Boundary management thus represents a privileged viewpoint for grasping the institutional, political and social aspects of public policy in relation to the so-called spatial turn in the historical perspective
