FROM FROEBEL TO THE AGAZZI SISTERS: THE BIRTH OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION IN EUROPE

The article traces the fundamental stages of the institution of "kindergarten" by Froebel, the first contemporary pedagogist to understand the importance of play in the development of the child. The significant contribution of the Agazzi sisters, who continued Froebel's work in the Italian context, is also highlighted.
