EFFECTS OF THE PROTESTANT REFORMATION AND THE CATHOLIC COUNTER-REFORMATION ON THE IDEA OF EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION IN EUROPE

The article focuses on the effects the Protestant Reformation had on education, considering both the spread of literacy in Reformed countries and the Catholic response through the Counter-Reformation.
