Abstract:
Starting from a review of the scenarios elaborated by the most critical studies on a possible future,
the essay provides a reflection on the theme of technological unemployment. By comparing the risks
and perspectives determined by the impacts of the Fourth Digital Revolution, an idea of welfare is
envisaged which will be able to combine work, community and care, including a renewed ethic of
co-responsibility. The Industry 4.0 leads to large investments, pushing economic actors to adapt their
behaviour and to revise the choices that guide their action. Through a regulatory approach inspired,
primarily, by the analyse of the social complexity, the paper dwells on the challenge on which the
results of this change of times are played. The conclusions reflect on the value of training in building a
new social pact, training inspired by a ‘new digital humanism’, understood as research and construction
of a common value perspective.
