Cittadinanza attiva e patrimonio culturale. Primi risultati dell’esperienza “Scuola IN museo” del comune di Reggio Emilia

The paper presents some of the results of the “Scuola IN museo” (School in the museum) project, implemented by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia during the school year 2020/21. The project aims to open the museum spaces to some classes of primary and secondary schools in the city for the realization of daily educational activities, to cope with the lack of school spaces as a result of the distancing rules applied during the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The analyses carried out by the research group aim to investigate the cognitive outcomes and the promotion of citizenship transverse skills and social inclusion within the students participating in the project, as well as to highlight the organizational aspects of integrated school-museum planning activity carried out by the educators and teachers involved. Through various evaluation tools, questionnaires and in-depth interviews, in particular, the “Scuola IN museo” project has shown an increase in students’ perception of their sense of belonging to the local community, as well as a better relationship with heritage, much more intense and profound, together with the promotion of transverse skills such as collaboration.
