abstract:
The volume explores the word as a crucial pedagogical issue, examining its role in processes of individual and collective education. The word is not merely a tool for communication, but a place of encounter, identity construction, and social justice. In educational contexts, especially those marked by high heterogeneity and complexity, it becomes a vehicle for inclusion or, conversely, for marginalization, feeding forms of social control. The work weaves together theories and practices related to the pedagogy of the word, bringing into dialogue key figures from the Italian and international educational tradition and community experiences in which speaking, listening, and self-narration become transformative acts. Its theoretical framework draws on critical pedagogy, cultural studies, and decolonial and intersectional approaches to show how the word can liberate or oppress, open spaces for dialogue or reinforce inequalities. In a society marked by plurality and conflict, the pedagogy of the word invites us to rethink education as a place of dialogue and co-construction. Through the valorization of other voices, plural narratives, and dialogic relationships, the word becomes a living device of change, capable of restoring dignity to those excluded, breaking hierarchies, and opening new possibilities for coexistence and shared freedom.
